"The Beginning" is the first debut release by American electronic composer, artist and audio-engeneer Neil Ricard as The R14 Project. The album was originally released Dec. 31, 2011 to Mediafire, but only available with a link. It was officially re-released on Nov. 13, 2015 to R14's Bandcamp page. The album was composed throughout December 2011 and contains the first ever beats recorded by R14. It was originally planned to be named after the track "Totacootamous" under the alias The N3O Project, but plans changed when the alias was changed to The R14 Project. The album was composed with FL Studio 8. Since the tracks are the first songs ever composed by Neil Ricard using the program, the lack of knowledge about it caused the album to be unmastered upon its released & built-in samples and loops were used instead of composing with synthesizers and drum samples like he does now.

Neil started as the vocalist for duo The Goodbye & Hello (2011-14').
Aliases include NeoR14 & Polygon//Fantasy, and previously The R14 Project, R14, The N3O Project, and Neil Ricard.
